Hunting for the Spirit of Place explores the relationship between my contemporary embodiment of Place and the historical context of a site, along with my emotional connection to past bodies, “ghosts,” present within the land. In this performance work, I use a set of dousing rods and a pair of my late grandfather’s duck hunting waders to attempt to contact his spirit using the rods as a conduit to guide me through the brush, brambles, spines, and swamp water of his Southern Arizona property.
