Thin Places (On Collecting)
In a collaborative publication with CJ Rakow, Sara St. Clair, and Aidan Patrick Welby On Collecting presents a series of objects resulting from different processes of collecting. This process was enacted in order to explore the possibility that a collection could be unified under an idea, rather than simply grouped by form. Together, the contents of this box function as a record of this process and exist in a series of 12. Using the postcard as a medium for the dispersal of private information, I explore the fine line between private and public knowledge. Each of twelve unique postcards presented deeply personal information regarding my innermost thoughts. A thin barrier exists between the public and my private information as the encoded message is rendered unreadable.
